How to fix a computer that won’t go past the startup screen?

teddy12290 asked: My computer only shows one screen, the start-up screen. It’s a HP Windows Vista. The screen it shows is powder blue with the words HP. At the bottom it gives directions of keys to press on the keyboard to fix it. I’ve tried unplugging it, using different keyboards and mouses, nothing works.
